Why They Golf 100 Holes in One Day (year over year!)

March 26, 2026 By Pam Pulizzi

I’ve heard a few people say that Michael Balzano and Joe Pulizzi do the 100 Holes of Golf in One Day challenge only to spend a day on the golf course. Maybe that’s true, but it’s an exhausting day. It takes around 10 hours of nonstop swinging (7 minutes per hole of golf) to complete the task.

And they are doing it for the 6th year in a row!

I am there most of the day, making sure everyone has plenty of food, water, Advil, Band-Aids, golf tees and anything else as they keep moving, all to raise funds for kids who need speech therapy. Please consider helping them out by donating to the day. Every child deserves to communicate. Every penny raised goes to the kids.

Here’s a few of our other golfers who have participated in the event EVERY year and why they give their time to the cause.

“Playing 100 holes of golf in a single day is difficult, but it pales in comparison to the daily challenges faced by these children. I do it to ensure that these young people have the resources they need to find their voices, and I’m honored to join a dedicated group of generous golfers and volunteers all working toward the same goal. 1 day, 100 holes, 1 great cause …” – Jim Kozak

“I participate in this event because I’m lucky.

Lucky to have friends that put others first; that inspire me to be better, do more, and lead by example.

Lucky that I can raise my voice for those who can’t; my voice raises funds, which gives others a voice.

Lucky to demonstrate what it means to love thy neighbor unconditionally through active compassion, empathy, and community welfare.” – Jim Clarke

“My partner and better half, Kristin, has dedicated her professional career to teaching children with special needs, many of whom require speech therapy and related services. I have witnessed firsthand the profound benefits of speech therapy and the joy it brings not only to the children, but also to their families when it leads to breakthroughs in communication. I have been a proud supporter of the Orange Effect Foundation since its inception, and I am continually inspired by the incredible work they do to help these amazing kids access the support they need to communicate in this world. Once again, I am excited to bring my less-than-stellar golf swing out for such a wonderful cause!” – JK Kalinowski

“I was introduced to this event through my friendship with Joe Pulizzi after attending Content Marketing World. I initially joined his annual golf scramble as a networking opportunity before eventually taking on the 100 Hole event. What started as a casual connection quickly became something much more meaningful. After a few years I found a deeper connection to The Orange Effect Foundation, which has since become the primary charity I support. Combining a great cause with my love of golf, and sharing it each year with my golf partner Alan, makes this one of our favorite days of the year.” – Will Reed
