For many of us, 2025 has been a whirlwind of a year. As it comes to a close, my wish for all of you (and for my family and friends) is that we’re able to slow down a little and find time for the things we enjoy most.
You may have read previously how much I love resolutions, and the new year brings the perfect opportunity for that. But recently, I was talking to a friend who told me about choosing a word for the year. I’d heard of this before, but never really looked into it.
I’ve decided that in 2026, my word will be balance. It’s important to me not to watch too much television, not to spend too much time on social media, and to be sure to connect with family and friends often. But we’re all human, sometimes one thing dominates, a compulsion takes over, or doom scrolling just happens.
I don’t want to be too hard on myself, and I think balance will be a good word for me. To take the good with the bad, acknowledge the pressures imposed by family and society, and simply try to find equilibrium. I hope the same for you in the coming year.
