Giving Might Be More Important Than Ever

December 4, 2025 By Pam Pulizzi

I didn’t do any official research, but I know just for myself, there are dozens of reasons why I might donate to something. Here are a few:

  • It is a cause near and dear to my heart
  • It is an organization I follow, respect, or they have announced something amazing
  • A friend or family member has asked me to donate
  • A colleague is on the board
  • It’s a fun night out for a great group (I love a good fundraiser)

While we of course appreciate donations to The Orange Effect Foundation we know there are so many organizations out there doing great things and in need of so much. Some who also make sure that kids have gifts at the holidays.

So we put together a list of a few of our favorites! Thanks for giving!

St. Malachi Center (Side note: Joe and I got married at the Church on the same property!)

At St. Malachi Center, they serve hundreds of people each week who can’t make ends meet. They give out food, clothing, after-school safe spaces, shower needs, and so much more. Here’s one of their Wishlists.

Metanoia Project runs seasonal shelter. This means shelter for those who don’t feel comfortable in traditional shelter—often lgbtq+, couples, those with pets, those actively using controlled substances. Shop their Wishlist.

One of our other favorites, the Department for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, is often a grant recipient of the Orange Effect Foundation.

Home (Celine’s Nest is the Lakewood location) provides a home for expecting moms.

Building Hope in the City runs The Hope Center on Triskett Road. They also run the Common Threads thrift shop and they recently built low income housing in Clark Fulton. Their work at The Hope Center supports refugees and immigrants so that they can become thriving members of our community. Shop their Wishlist.
