The Child Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA) states that the “predictability, use of carrier phrases, frequent practice of a target sound (s), and familiar inflection of repetitive books may help to target some of the characteristics often associated with child apraxia of speech” (a motor speech disorder). Reading repetitive books with children increases participation, decreases frustration, and provides speech sound production practice, boosting a child’s self-esteem.
