I am not sure if I emphasized it enough, but in my last blog post on Thankfulness, I talked about our Program Manager position and how the two people who have filled that role since our inception in 2015 have been vital to our success. Maureen moved on to a full time position where she is continuing to “save the world”, and Krissy is going to continue pursuing her passion helping others plan bucket list trips as a travel agent.
Upon learning about Krissy’s departure news we panicked slightly. Let’s be honest, change is tough. But then as things often do, we were grateful for the four amazing candidates who expressed their interested in the program manager position.
While The Orange Effect Foundation supports all of the United States, and while all the board members are able to work remotely, we are grounded in Cleveland and do consider that our central hub.
Meet Doreen:
Calling the Cleveland area home, Doreen lives with her husband and their two kids, and has dedicated the past 20+ years to raising their family, after leaving a professional career in marketing and advertising. She opted to get involved with every educational board, PTA, committee, and boosters group (from athletics to drama), and use her skills to benefit her kids and all the kids around them, and enhance their education and/or activity. She has held leadership roles in all of the above mentioned activities, sometimes working with a team and at other times working as an army of one. She’s done everything from organizing classroom parties and school book fairs, to holding banquets and ceremonies for hundreds, to fundraising and securing donations for special causes and goals, to funding and organizing a swan song $25K After Prom for 200 18-year-olds! She beams with pride as she shares all of these accomplishments and finds it incredibly rewarding. She is, and should be, so proud of how many kids she has impacted over the years. She is very much looking forward to doing the same with all of you and the Orange Effect Foundation.
She will be keeping all of us on the board moving forward to continue to do great things for all the families affected by some type of communication disorder.
