What is the deadline to apply for a grant?

Applications are accepted at any time. However, deadline dates for quarterly review are February 15, May 15, August 15, and November 15.

What is the age requirement for applicants?

Anyone may apply for a grant on behalf of an applicant who is up to 21 years of age.

Do you have to be a legal citizen of the United States to apply?

Yes.

May I use grant money for previous therapy or assistive technology purchases?

No. All grant money is to be used for future therapy or assistive technology purchases.

How frequently may I apply?

You may apply once each calendar year.

Are grants renewable?

No. You must submit a new grant application for each request.

Are grants based on financial need?

Yes, but we do take into account extenuating circumstances.

May I reapply if my grant application is denied?

You may only reapply during the same calendar year if your need has changed.

When will I find out if I have been awarded a grant?

You will receive notification of the Board’s decision within 60 days of the quarterly application deadline. Notification will be sent via email to the person nominating the applicant.

May I apply for more than one child?

Yes. You must submit an individual grant application for each child.

My therapist is not certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). May I use their services if I am awarded a grant?

No. If you receive a grant for therapy you must use an ASHA-certified therapist.
